Fujitsu-siemens lifebook t4010: notebook pc and tablet pc «all-in-one»

Не секрет, что каждый народ в глазах окружающих народов имеет свою сложившуюся репутацию. Это может нравиться, может не нравиться, но это суровая правда жизни. Так, например, немцы всегда считались хорошими (вероятно, даже лучшими) механиками. Заводные музыкальные шкатулки, микроскопы, фотоаппараты, автомобили, самолёты и многое другое….

На другой стороне планеты, на нескольких островах располагается Япония, страна, название которой сегодня ассоциируется с качественной электроникой.

Конечно, так было не всегда, до второй мировой войны и сразу после неё качество японской техники (любой) оставляло желать много лучшего, и надпись Made in Japan воспринималась примерно так, как сейчас воспринимается Made in Africa.

Да и во время войны, пока немецкие инженеры создавали шедевры вроде управляемой по радио ракеты Hs.298, японские конструкторы спешно клепали всевозможные устройства, управляемые смертниками.

Что интересно, несмотря на использование таких совершенных систем управления как хотя и основательно промытые, но всё-таки человеческие мозги, эффективность всех этих устройств была гораздо ниже, чем сейчас многими принято считать. Относительная техническая отсталость страны восходящего Солнца давала о себе знать, надёжность большинства из этих аппаратов не выдерживала никакой критики.

Как бы то ни было, после сокрушительного поражения японцы не успокоились. Видимо, суровый самурайский дух не давал им покоя (как ни старались вытравить его оккупационные власти), душа требовала войны и победы.

Если не на поле брани, то хотя бы на прилавках магазинов. Японские компании ринулись завоёвывать мировые рынки.

И хотя криков «банзай» при этом слышно не было, надо сказать, что новая война велась (и ведётся) не без успеха.

Время шло, бывшие страны «оси» оправились от поражения и тягот послевоенного времени. И теперь бывшие союзники вновь заключают договоры и проводят совместные захватнические операции на мировых рынках. Об одном из таких альянсов, между Leica и Panasonic, мы уже писали неоднократно.

Сегодня мы поговорим о продукции другого японо-немецкого альянса, Fujitsu-Siemens. Обе компании могут похвастаться достаточно богатой историей, Siemens был основан ещё в 1876 году, Fujitsu — в 1935.

Их совместное предприятие, Fujitsu-Siemens, имеет гораздо более скромную историю, и образовалось только в 1999 году.

Что же дало сочетание немецкого опыта и аккуратности с японским терпением в этот раз? А дало оно богатый спектр моделей компьютеров самого различного класса и предназначения. Мы сегодня рассмотрим один из их ноутбуков, Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M1420.

Традиционно для всех производителей, компания имеет несколько линеек ноутбуков. В нашем случае это Amilo и Lifebook.

Изначально их деление задумывалось так: Amilo как машины, предназначенные для домашнего пользования, а Lifebook более «грубые» и неприхотливые, предназначенные для профессионалов.

Теперь это деление несколько размылось (в ряду «профессиональных» моделей появилось нечто под названием Amilo Pro), но будем играть по их правилам.

Итак, сегодня мы рассмотрим ноутбук из серии Amilo M, что означает машину, предназначенную для домашнего рынка (то есть, с прицелом на полноценную замену настольного компьютера), но в то же время максимально мобильную (о чём свидетельствует индекс М).

Кроме этого, наш ноутбук обладает широкой матрицей формата 16:9. Всё это позволяет позиционировать M1420 как одного из флагманов всей линейки ноутбуков Amilo (про Amilo Pro мы ничего не говорим, их можно вывести в отдельную линейку).

Сухим языком цифр, конфигурация нашего героя такова.

Процессор

Intel Pentium-M 735. Тактовая частота 1,7 Mhz, размер кэша 2 Mb, частота системной шины 400 Mhz.

На сегодняшний день это не самый мощный из процессоров для технологии Intel Centrino (топовые модели уже переступили планку в 2 Ghz), но даже он должен блеснуть (или, по крайней мере, показать себя весьма достойно) в сравнении даже с трёхгигагерцовыми представителями линейки Pentium 4. Процессор построен по технологии 0.90 nm, с поддержкой всех существующих на сегодня у Intel технологий энергосбережения.

Чипсет

Intel 855GME+ICH4. Мобильный чипсет, разработанный в рамках технологии Intel Centrino.

Поддерживается всё, что может поддерживаться у Intel в плане энергосбережения. Кроме этого чипсет имеет 400 Mhz системную шину, поддерживает до 2 гигабайт DDR 333/266/200 оперативной памяти, до 6 портов USB 2.0, поддержка AGP 4x, встроенные модем, звук, LAN и беспроводная сеть. В данном чипсете имеется и встроенная графика, но в Amilo M-1420 она не используется.

Оперативная память

Два модуля по 256 мегабайт, что даёт в сумме 512 Mb DDR 333. Напомню, что чипсет поддерживает память объёмом до 2 Gb, но свободных слотов для неё уже не остаётся, их всего два и оба заняты.

Видеосистема

Мобильный ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro, объём видеопамяти — 128 мегабайт. Полная поддержка DirectX 9.0, поддержка технологий энергосбережения от ATI под названием Powerplay 4.0, двойной RAMDAC с частотами 400 Mhz, продвинутая поддержка проигрывания видео.

Дисплей

Широкоформатная, 16:9 WXGA матрица с диагональю 15.4' и разрешением 1280*800 пикселей.

Жёсткий диск

Toshiba MK8025GAS. Объём 80 гигабайт, 4200 rpm, объём кэша 8 мегабайт, Fliuid Dinamic Bearing (FDB) motor drive, форм-фактор 2,5', высота 9,5 мм, ATA100.

DVD привод

HLDS DVD+R/RW GCA-4040N с двухмегабайтным кэшем.

Четырёхскоростной DVD+R/RW малоизвестного обычным пользователям производителя HLDS.

За этой аббревиатурой прячется появившееся в 2001 году совместное предприятие по производству оптических дисков. Оба его учредителя известны нашим читателям гораздо лучше, чем их детище. Это Hitachi и LG.

Сам привод не отличается ничем выдающимся, можно отметить только отсутствие поддержки записи DVD-R/RW и двухслойных (DL) дисков.

Коммуникационные возможности

Внешний вид

Внешне ноутбук производит впечатление очень изящного устройства. Светлый серебристый корпус очень удачно сочетается с тёмной клавиатурой.

В дизайне нет никаких излишеств, он оставляет впечатление простоты, которая соседствует с настоящей солидностью, свойственной вполне сформировавшимся людям. Модель явно не молодёжная. Корпус сделан из пластмассы, металлические только некоторые детали, например логотип компании на верхней крышке.

Качество сборки, как и следует ожидать от машины с немецко-японской родословной, на высоте. Ноутбук и так достаточно тонкий, но дизайнерское решение, когда верхняя половина серебристая, а нижняя тёмная, заставляет его казаться ещё тоньше.

Спереди расположены входы/выходы звуковой карты, четырёхконтактный IEEE1394 разъём и card reader, читающий SD/MMC и Memory Stick карточки. Расположение всего этого именно на лицевой стороне можно считать достаточно удачным, ведь и наушники, и карточки памяти вставляются/отсоединяются постоянно, поэтому чем меньше приходится искать разъём, тем лучше.

С правой стороны машины мы видим только DVD+RW привод, и ничего лишнего. Такое расположение для оптического привода стало уже традиционным, на подавляющем большинстве ноутбуков его приходится искать именно здесь.

На задней стороне львиную долю места занимает батарея, из разъёмов остаётся место только для разъёма питания и двух USB 2.0 разъёмов.

Остальные разъёмы расположены с левой стороны машины. Здесь мы видим ещё один USB 2.

0 разъём, разъёмы для подключения сетевой карты и модема, VGA и TV-Out выходы (TV-Out сделан в виде семиконтактного Mini-DIN, вспомнив, что на ноутбуке стоит видеокарта ATI, можно сделать безошибочный вывод, что на него подаётся сразу S-Video и композитный видеосигналы), PCMCI разъём (в полном соответствии с современными тенденциями ноутостроения — всего один) и вентиляционное отверстие. В отличие от собратьев, построенных на основе Pentium4, медный радиатор, который проглядывает из него, весьма скромных размеров. Кроме этого, это отверстие единственное. Снизу на корпусе вентиляционных отверстий нет, там можно найти только динамик сабвуфера.

Это означает, что ноутбуку не требуется обязательный забор воздуха из-под себя, поэтому вовсе не обязательно, чтобы он стоял на твёрдой поверхности, между которой и корпусом обязателен зазор. Вовсе нет, с Amilo M-1420 можно работать где угодно и как угодно, на коленях, на одеяле, и т. д..

Клавиатура и touchpad

Весь дизайн Amilo M-1420 выдержан в стиле «меньше — лучше». Не стали исключением и клавиатура с touchpad.

Нет никаких дополнительных кнопок для быстрого запуска чего бы то ни было. Скромная клавиатура без ничего лишнего, кнопка включения/включения питания и всё. Конструкция touchpad напоминает таковую на Apple, алюминиевая кнопка даже не поделена на две (хотя работает, конечно же, как две отдельные).

Несмотря на то, что ноутбук имеет широкоформатную матрицу формата 16:9, пропорции touchpad обычные, 4:3. Впрочем, в работе это не мешает. Как видно из снимка, побывавший у нас экземпляр не русифицирован.

Впрочем, эта проблема решается достаточно просто, поэтому вряд ли этот факт можно считать большим недостатком.

Экран

Широкоформатная 15,4'WXGA матрица с разрешением 1280*800. Широкая матрица становится почти обязательным атрибутом ноутбуков, предназначенных для домашнего использования. Она прекрасно подходит для просмотра широкоформатных фильмов. Но не только, подобная матрица идеальна для обработки видео или звука, где имеется горизонтальный timeline.

При проектировании этой машины немецкие и японские инженеры явно находились под впечатлением от давно и небезуспешно проталкиваемой Microsoft идеи legacy free машины.

Amilo M-1420 не имеет ни одного из портов, которые можно считать наследником «старого доброго времени». Тем не менее, от основ что-то осталось.

Машина имеет вполне привычный и традиционный BIOS (про необходимость избавиться от которого в таком виде так долго говорит Microsoft).

Тестирование

В отличии от all-in-one монстров, которые позиционируются в качестве замены настольным компьютерам, Amilo M-1420 проектировался как действительно мобильная машина. Об этом говорит не только технология Intel Centrino, стучащая в «груди», но и размер с весом.

Несмотря на широкую матрицу, достаточно большого размера 15,4', вес ноутбука не вышел за три килограмма. Размеры ноутбука, не смотря на достаточно внушительную конфигурацию, оставляют впечатление лёгкости и изящества. Достигается это, в том числе, и максимально компактной компоновкой.

Например, одна из самых габаритных деталей любого ноутбука, батарея, не спрятана целиком внутри корпуса, как мы привыкли видеть, но составляет часть этого самого корпуса.

Ёмкость батареи составляет 48840mWh, но жестоко терзаемый Battery Eater Pro 2.50 наш конкурсант сумел продержаться всего 1 час 28 минут и 53 секунды. Результат, прямо скажем, отнюдь не рекордный. Посмотрим как у него с производительностью.

Для тестирования использовалась линейка тестов от MadOnion, как наиболее распространённые и интересные. В качестве соперника нашего конкурсанта выступил HP Pavilion ZX5280us.

Видеокарты наших конкурсантов одинаковы, единственное отличие — ATI Radeon 9600Pro Mobility, установленный на Amilo M-1420, работает на частоте 350 Mhz, в отличии от 333 Mhz, которыми может похвастаться ATI Radeon 9600 Mobility, стоящий на HP Pavilion ZX5280us.

Однако, ноутбук от HP оснащён Intel Pentium 4 процессором с поддержкой HyperThreading. Тактовая частота этого монстра на целых полтора гигагерца выше чем у нашего конкурсанта, и составляет целых 3,2 Ghz.

С выходом процессора Pentium-M, который является основой технологии Centrino, маркетинг Intel быстро перестроился и на смену лозунгам в стиле «Гигагерцы решают всё!», на которых была основана вся рекламная компания по проталкиванию Pentium 4, пришли ровно противоположные (созвучные тем, которыми пользовался AMD, обосновывая право на жизнь своей второй реинкарнации PR рейтинга): «Гигагерцы — это далеко не всё. Да на самом деле они и вовсе ничего не значат!». В справедливости этого утверждения мы можем ещё раз убедиться. Напомню, что разница в частотах видеокарт у наших конкурсантов составляет всего 17 мегагерц в пользу Amilo M-1420. Разница между процессорами, (кроме разных ядер, конечно же) составляет ещё целых 1500 Mhz в пользу Pavilion ZX5280us. Но, почти никакой реальной пользы от этих лишних 1500 мегагерц наши тесты не выявили. Напротив, в 2001 и 2003 3Dmark'ах Amilo M-1420 имеет вполне ощутимый выигрыш. Только в 3Dmark2005 Pavilion ZX5280us сумел выйти вперёд на жалких 4 очка, за счёт лишних 0,6 fps в тесте Return to Proxycon.

Выводы

Произведение немецких и японских инженеров обладает всем, чем должен обладать современный ноутбук. Это современный, изящный, но в то же время строгий дизайн, относительно небольшие размеры и вес, в сочетании с большой широкоформатной матрицей, вполне достойные характеристики.

Процессор Pentium-M на 1.7 Ghz показал себя с лучшей стороны, в комплекте с достаточно мощной видеокартой Amilo M-1420 демонстрирует производительность такую же или выше, как многие четырехкилограммовые монстры, которые призваны заменить настольные компьютеры.

И что же? Обладая всеми возможностями так называемых all-in-one, в том числе и матрицей большего размера, Amilo M-1420 остаётся ноутбуком, который реально можно взять с собой куда угодно, и с комфортом работать с ним в любых условиях.

Что не всегда и не всем удобно с тяжеленным кирпичом огромного размера и со встроенной печкой (да простят меня поклонники всего большого).

Для кого предназначен Amilo M-1420? Да практически для кого угодно. На 80 гигабайтном жёстком диске вольготно разместятся как куча игрушек (производительности ноутбука в этом плане хватит на очень многое, хотя особых чудес ожидать не приходится. Игры самых последних поколений хоть и будут работать, но поражать воображение производительностью не будут.

Современные видеокарты для настольных компьютеров в 3Dmark2005 с лёгкостью берут 5000-6000, что более чем в 5-6 раз больше, чем сумел набрать наш конкурсант), так и 5-6 часов видео в формате DV, слитое через IEEE1394.

Встроенный card reader позволит владельцам фотокамер от таких фирм как Sony, Panasonic, или любых других, кто использует в своих камерах MemoryStick либо MMC/SD, попытаться забить вместительный жёсткий диск высокохудожественными съёмками природы либо дружеских застолий.

Обработка всего этого богатства не будет представлять больших трудностей, одно из преимуществ широкой матрицы в том, что разметив в графическом редакторе снимок формата 4:3 останется достаточно места по краям, где можно разместить панельки с управляющими элементами не страдая от того, что они закрывают пол изображения.

Для приятного просмотра видео, Amilo M-1420 имеет видеокарту, в которой реализовано всё необходимое (и даже более того), чтобы сделать сей процесс наиболее приятным, широкую матрицу и встроенный сабвуфер, который дополняет встроенные колоночки. Как обычно и бывает на ноутбуках, чудес от акустической системы ждать не приходится. Тем не менее, качество звука находится на приемлемом уровне.

This past week I spent a good chunk of time reworking the ink editing proof-of-concept app I created last year.  This time around the app supports RTF files which makes it a lot more useful.

The number of gestures supported is just over 10, so this still isn't a full-blown editing app, but it feels more «real.» It's quite fast to be able to bold some text, underline another, or force a paragraph to indent.

Another big change I've made is in how text is inserted. Before I was trying to recognize handwritten text.
